The NHS covers treatment that's clinically necessary to keep your mouth healthy, but it almost always classes implants as cosmetic — so funding isn't available in the vast majority of cases. At Bergedent, an implant price typically covers the implant post (CE-certified brands used in UK clinics), the abutment, the final ceramic crown, your in-clinic appointments during the stay, and diagnostic imaging such as 3D CBCT scans. What it does not include is flights or accommodation. Wherever you're looking at treatment, always ask for an itemised written quote before you book — so you know precisely what's covered and what isn't.
Hidden costs to budget for
The headline treatment price is only part of the picture. For a UK patient travelling to Istanbul, realistic extras include:
- Flights: London–Istanbul return from roughly £80–£150 with budget airlines; more in peak season. Istanbul has two airports — IST and Sabiha Gökçen (SAW).
- Accommodation: 3–4 star hotels near the clinic from about £50–£80 per night; many patients stay 5–7 nights for placement.
- Two trips: Most implant journeys need a second visit months later to fit the permanent crown after the implant integrates. Budget for a return trip, not just one.
- Bone grafting or sinus lift: If you've had teeth missing for a long time, extra procedures may be needed and can add to the quote.
- Follow-up at home: Factor in any local check-ups or adjustments once you're back in the UK.
